Note: ProfiLab is a service offering milk fatty acid profile in bulk tank samples, launched in 2020 and currently offered to Quebec and NB dairy producers through agreements with the respective milk marketing boards. The Profilab report shows a graphical view of three groups of fatty acids and compares the farm value to a provincial benchmark to ease interpretation. Because it involves bulk tank samples, it is not possible to link the farm breed to the respective breed benchmark, but the herd owner can select a Holstein or Jersey provincial average to compare to their breed. Despite the low number of Jersey herds in the province of Quebec, this benchmark was offered because of the great difference between this breed (4%) and the provincial average (93% Holstein). Factsheets have been produced and are made available for other breeds to demonstrate that they are very similar to the Holstein average.
